Skid Steer Rentals From Reliable Equipment

A skid steer is a machine that is used for such jobs as construction and loading. It has a small rigid frame with a seat for the operator and is powered by a diesel engine. Buckets and other labor-saving tools can be attached to the lift arms. There isn’t a steering mechanism but instead, a skid steer is worked with a joystick.

If you are a business that needs to use a skid steer regularly, you may want to invest in one. However, if you just need one now and again, it makes more sense to rent a skid steer. Reliable Equipment offers a choice of skid steers, including well-known brands such as Kubota and Bobcat. They stock both normal-size skid steers and mini skid steers. The smaller version works well in tight spaces and doesn’t do much damage to lawns.

Skid Steer – Basic Operating

You should have basic knowledge of operating a skid steer before you rent one. If you work for a business such as a construction company, you will probably be given training. However, if you are a private individual, you should at least read up on how to operate a skid steer and familiarize yourself with the controls before you start using it.

First, check for any obstacles that might get in your way while operating the skid steer. Then get into the cabin, fasten your seat belt, and pull down the roll cage. Turn the ignition key a quarter turn and disengage the parking brake. Fully turn the ignition key and press the green ready button. This unlocks the gears. To operate the skid steer, you use a joystick. To move left, push the left arm control forward and to move right, push the right arm control forward. To reverse, pull both arms back and to move forward, push both arm controls forward. There are foot pedals that control the bucket and any other attachments. To control the boom, use the left foot pedal. To lower the boom, push forward on the pedal, and to raise it, push your left heel back on the pedal. The right pedal controls the bucket or other attachment. To use the bucket for digging, ease your heel back on the pedal, and to dump the contents of the bucket, ease your right foot forward on the pedal.

Rent a Skid Steer For These Projects

A skid steer is a versatile piece of equipment. It is useful on a construction site where you need to remove soil or rubble. It can be used in landscaping and can even be useful in mowing the lawn with the right attachment. You may see a skid steer used to clear snow off roads or a job site although, in more severe winter conditions, a snow blade or snow blower may be attached instead of a loader. Skid steers are used in farming, road work, and loading.
